One Tweet For New TRV$DJAM Mixtape

Here’s a story marketing people and Twitter addicts can surely appreciate. The new mixtape from drummer Travis Barker and turntable, mix-master extraordinaire DJ-AM (aka Adam Goldstein), Fix Your Face Vol. 2 – Coachella ‘09, can be yours free in exchange for one, simple Twitter message. A ‘tweet,’ as it’s called.
The duo, known as TRV$DJAM, will give away their new mixtape as a free download once a user has tweeted the message:
Download the new #trvsdjam mixtape ‘Fix Your Face Vol. 2 – Coachella 09′ in exchange for one tweet! http://twitter.trvsdjam.com.
The mixtape is a wild mash-up of ‘80s tunes, rock n’ roll and hip-hop. It’s been co-produced by Travis Barker and DJ AM, with Barker, obviously adding his drum beats.
Sure, Twitter might infuriate some, but you have to hand it to DJ AM and Barker for mixing it up (pun intended and apologized for) and tapping the social media reservoir for some creative music marketing – a move their fans will definitely appreciate.
If anything TRV$/DJAM recognize Twitter’s viral marketing potential, and their tweet-for-download ploy is a good way to generate buzz and, hey, if you like their work, how is it not a pretty great deal?
