In the Key of B Flat

Musicians rejoice! A new ‘super group’ of sorts has recently surfaced on the web, which, might I add, is one of the most original ideas I have ever seen. No, I’m not talking about The Dead Weathers, or something along the lines of Probot or Audioslave. This new project is titled In B Flat and is actually more of a ‘website’ than an actual ‘band’ – How does this work? Let me explain; In B Flat (or In Bb 2.0) collects user-submitted videos of musicians performing an instrument of their choice (vocals included) in the key of B Flat.

If you’re not familiar with how music keys work, then let me explain real quick: If you play more than one instrument (vocals included) in B Flat, it will more often than not mesh perfectly with a separate instrument of the same key. The website posts these submitted videos on one main page, and allows you to mix your own masterpiece with layers (or ‘stems’) of people doing what they do best, performing music

If you feel up to the challenge to mix your own tune, head on over to their website now and give it a shot. A detailed description of this project can be read by clicking continue…

In Bb 2.0 is a collaborative music and spoken word project conceived by Darren Solomon from Science for Girls. The videos can be played simultaneously — the soundtracks will work together, and the mix can be adjusted with the individual volume sliders. Videos have been selected from many awesome submissions from many awesome people.

Are you up for the challenge?
