091 Cheap CDs: Cat Power, The Mars Volta, Devendra Banhart . . .

Whenever I buy a new CD, I feel so powerful because [it] belongs to me. Trust me when I tell you that even when you buy downloads on Amazon, or iTunes, the feeling is not the same because you don’t have the packaging of the music you bought. Although downloading is very convenient, there is no feeling like tearing apart that CD wrapper and looking through the art in the booklet. So dear readers here is another cheap DVDs series to keep you happy and save you time because we know you’re busy.

Take a look at our great finds …

I am so excited to see No Doubt later this summer; the wait was too long. If you feel the same way, then today is your lucky day, check out the self-titled album and feel free to reminisce in old memories. Also, you can never go wrong with the never-aging Simon & Garfunkel, they truly are a duo to die for.

$10-$15

This entire week I’ve been Cat Power obsessed. She is so beautiful and talented, and The Greatest is truly one of her greatest works yet. I already own the album, so now it’s your turn. Elephant is my favorite album by the White duo; Seven Nation Army always gets me dancing and banging my wheel because I usually listen to it while driving- don’t be afraid.

I made the effort; I went to Amoeba and tried to buy the solid copy of the debut album of Band of Skulls, but they didn’t have it. Luckily Amazon did, for way less than I imagined, and the songs are amazing. The trio is also amazing live. They opened for Metric‘s show on Monday at the Wiltern, and they blew me away. Devandra is also one of my favorites. This gorgeous man mixes his songs between english and spanish, but always keeping his music down-to-earth.
