Bonnaroo Day 2
By davidhall
On the second day (June 12) of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, the rain cleared up, but the brutal sun and humidity took its place as the elements of torture.
However, that didn’t stop me from braving the Which Stage for the majority of the day to catch some electrifying sets from Gomez, Animal Collective (photos above) and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Check out the photos for Gomez and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs after the cut!
I ended the night with an epic hour and one half set from the Beastie Boys on the main stage. Unfortunately, the stage was absolutely packed (poor David Byrne got overshadowed), so I couldn’t see much, but I yelled along with the words to “Paul Revere” and the other hits just the same. The night’s strangest moment was when the Boys brought out fellow New York rapper Nas to help premier a new track… not sure I was a fan of that.
Check out photos from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs…

And Gomez…

And yes, I did skip Phish, for two very good reasons: 1) I’m not a dirty hippy from the Northeast, and 2) I had to save energy for today’s lineup featuring Rodrigo y Gabriela, Of Montreal, The Decemberists, THE BOSS, Nine Inch Nails and MGMT! I’m gonna have to pace myself…
