New music in the spotlight this week has a nice, Alt. pop and Alt. rock flavor to it; definitely some great music to look out for in the coming months.

Time to get sophisticated with your electronic pop. The French duo Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin, better known as Air, are set to bring the love on October 6th with the release of Love 2, the follow-up to 2007′s Pocket Symphony.

The first single, ‘Do The Joy’, will be released digitally on July 7, followed by ‘Sing Sang Sung’ on August 25. Love 2 is the debut production from the duo’s state-of-the-art Atlas Studio in Paris. Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin.

Love 2 Track list:

    1. Do The Joy
    2. Love
    3. So Light Is Her Footfall
    4. Be A Bee
    5. Missing The Light Of The Day

Fans of Manic Street Preachers should expect a bit more ‘joy’ on the band’s next album, a happier, less intense affair than their last release, Journal For Plague Lovers.  “I think we’re going to try and create an experience that brings a bit more joy,” he told Bang Media International of the band’s next album.

In the meantime Manic Street Preachers have released a new remix EP, featuring remixes of songs from Journal For Plague Lovers.

Full disclosure on this one: I love Trashcan Sinatras. So whenever the band releases a new album it’s a pretty big deal, especially when you consider they’ve produced only five albums over 19 years. It’s already been five years since 2004’s fantastic Weightlifting. But the Sinatras are back in fine form with In the Music, set for release on July 14. And after listening to the first single, “People,” it was definitely worth the wait. Apparently it just takes a long time to create supreme indie-pop.

You can check out “People” at the band’s official website.

Alt.-rockers Muse has confirmed that their new album, The Resistance, will be released on September 14th. The band is currently finishing the album, which has been self-produced in Italy and mixed by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent. The album hits the streets just in time for their UK tour, which is all sold out. Sold out in record time we might add.

The Resistance is the trio’s fifth album, the follow-up to the successful Black Holes And Revelations, released in ’06.
