Bon Jovi were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jason Mraz and Sir Tom Jones on June 18th in New York. Bon Jovi told Rolling Stone:
“If you write one song that comes across decades, you’re lucky. If you write a body of them and you’re recognized in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, it’s prestigious.”
After being honored by Daughty, Bon Jovi performed their hit, “Wanted Dead or Alive” for audience members. More details on the inductees and those who presented the awards is available. (RollingStone)
- Veteran pop duo, Pet Shop Boys performed in London on June 19th, selling out the 02 Arena. During their performance they covered Coldplay’s song, “Viva La Vida”. According to NME, this was not the first time the Pet shop Boys covered a mainstream rock band. In 1991 they covered U2‘s song “Where The Lights Have No Name”. - NME just reported that the Fatboy Slim Brighton Beach Boutique 5 has been cancelled due to the large amount of people it was expected to bring out. The event that brought together over 250,000 audience members in 2002 was set to take place in Madeira Drive on September 4th and 5th. (NME)
- Sting plans on releasing his new studio album on October 27th of this year. The album is titled, If On A Winter’s Night…. According to musicnewsnet, it was named after sting’s favorite season, the winter. The man has sold over 100 million records and received 16 Grammy awards, he really can’t do no wrong. (musicnewsnet)
