New Music: Radiohead, Living Colour, Clientele…
By Jeffrey Hyatt
We’ve got your funk, your rock and funk and some indie-pop mixed up in a hearty batch of new releases on the way.
Radiohead’s first three albums were given the reissue treatment in March, and now the band’s next trio of albums will be reissued this summer. That’s a mighty fine tri-fecta of music: Kid A (2000), Amnesiac (2001) and Hail to the Thief (2003).
According to Pitchfork, Radiohead’s fourth, fifth and sixth albums will be available August 25 as two-CD reissues, as well as collector’s edition, triple-disc sets including the albums proper, a disc of rarities and a bonus DVD. Both versions will include B-sides, live songs and studio sessions on the second rarities disc.
Mark down October 6 Clientele fans because the band will be releasing Bonfires on the Heath, the fifth album from the folk-pop band with the sweet melodies. The new disc includes two covers: “Tonight,” a song by Swedish band Evergreen Daze Days and a new version of “Graven Wood,” a cover of the Clientele’s own song.

On hiatus and mostly out of sight since 2002, R&B star Maxwell is primed for a soulful return. July 7 brings us the release of his long-awaited fourth studio album, BLACKsummer’snight, the first installment of a trilogy via Columbia Records.
“The time away gave me a better appreciation of things, so I took the time I needed to live to make this album something of substance,” Maxwell tells Billboard. “People tend to be so hell bent on remaining famous that you become desensitized to the music industry to some level. But my passion is making music and promoting and supporting great musicians.”
About the trilogy, Maxwell says that “‘BLACK’ is darker. It has a bluesier side and features more despondent records. It speaks plenty to love lost.” The first single from BLACK, “Pretty Wings,” is currently No. 11 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
“I want my music to last forever. I never want my music to be dated,” he says of the single. “‘Pretty Wings’ falls into that. I met this girl who I still respect very much, and although it didn’t work out, I got lots of inspiration from it. This track speaks of my time with her.”
Check out Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings” video here. From what I’ve heard so far, looks like BLACKsummer’snight is going to be something sexy, soulful and… funky.

What a great post and hooray for Maxwell's return. It's about time a legitimate R&B artist set the bar a little higher again.
