Poll: How Upset Do You Get About Canceled Shows?

It’s always a pain when you’re really excited for your favorite artist or band to come to town only to find out that the show has been canceled. Reasons given are usually sickness, scheduling conflicts, or personal emergencies but it’s always somewhat of a letdown.

Concert-goers are usually told that either their tickets will be refunded or that the band will schedule a show later on in the year. All of this is usually okay, especially when the band members’ lives are in jeopardy. For instance, Pitchfork has reported that The Dirty Projectors had to cancel tonight’s show in Toronto because their van flipped over in Detroit, MI. Although members have been discharged from the hospital, the band has taken off tomorrow night’s show in Montreal off as well.

You can read The Dirty Projectors’ official statement below as well as take a poll in regards to your feelings about canceled shows.

Official statement from the band:

“Dirty Projectors’ van flipped outside of Detroit, MI on their way up to Toronto. Although the crash was serious, we’re happy to report that all members of the band have been safely discharged from the hospital. The band will be flying home to New York in the morning to regroup and rest. Unfortunately, the band will have to cancel Toronto and Montreal. Thank you for understanding and sending your well wishes.”

Yuck, I'm almost ashamed to be part of the city that was responsible (ish) for the cancellation of the show. Dirty Projectors are simply amazing. Toronto really missed out – sorry about that.
