Pixies Celebrate Doolittle Album With Fall Tour
By Jeffrey Hyatt
It’s going to be all Doolittle all the time when alt-rock superstars The Pixies celebrate the 20th anniversary of its classic, 1989 album with an 11-date European tour later this year. According to reports the set list will contain all the tracks from Doolittle, their second full-length album, plus some cool B-sides.
The band are set to release a new career-spanning box set, ‘Minotaur’, in September.
“We wanted to do something special for Doolittle’s 20th anniversary,” Pixies singer/guitarist Black Francis explained in a press release, “and we thought his was a good opportunity to play all of the songs from that album, something we don’t normally do at a regular gig.”
Regarded by many as The Pixies most accessible album, Doolittle hit streets twenty years ago with a thunderous mix of punk and pop. So many great songs: “Here Comes Your Man,” “Monkey Gone to Heaven” and “Debaser,” plus “Wave of Mutilation,” “Hey” and “La La Love You.”
Pixies’ Doolittle-only European tour kicks off Oct. 1 in Ireland and wraps Oct. 15 in Paris.
No plans to play North America have been announced. Why?!
