The Killers To Release A Covers Album
By Laura AguirreThe Killers are planning to record an album of covers before the end of the year, according to NME. The Killer’s frontman Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vanucci told NME that they have been thinking hard about which acts they would like to cover in their album.
Here is what Flowers said on the matter:
“It’s something that we’ve always talked about doing and we’re still talking about. It’s difficult for each of us to pick songs that represent us as individuals. I mean, I have a lot of personalities myself! I’ve gone through everything from Neil Diamond to Cars.”
It seems like Flowers is still pretty unsure of what he will incorporate to the covers album, but Vanucci, on the other hand, seems rather sure of what he will bring to the table, “Genesis, Tom Waits, a little Cyndi Lauper, Iggy Pop,” are among the artists’ that the drummer-boy has mentioned. He also added that he has been “messing around with a couple of Fleet Foxes songs” recently.
If you’re wondering how the band will make this covers album possible with their current tour, Vanucci mentioned that The Killers have taken a mobile recording rig on the road with them and will work on the album on the road.
It’s always cool to hear some of your favorite current bands singing along to your ultimate all-time favorites. As for The Killers covering some Fleet Foxes? This brings a smile to my face. You never know, the two could even tour together in a not-so-distant future.
