Poll: Which John Lennon Song Do You Prefer?

It’s been 40 years since John Lennon and Yoko Ono had encouraged people to “Give Peace A Chance.” As passionate political activists, Lennon and Ono had their say on the world and its constant turmoil. Along with “Instant Karma!” and “Imagine,” the song is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.

Which one do you like better? “Give Peace A Chance” was created during the famous Bed-Ins where he and Ono protested by staying in bed for two weeks while they spoke to press. “Imagine” was inspired by some of Ono’s poetry and is ultimately about anti-religion, anti-nationalism, anti-conventionalism, and anti-capitalism but has a pretty down-tempo melody that sugar coats it all.

Which of these two “peace” songs is the better one? Vote and let us know! Also, check out the original footage from the Amsterdam & Montreal Bed-Ins in 1969 below.

Even though I spent two years putting together a new book Give Peace A Chance, showing over 80 photos of the Bed-in in 1969 in Montreal taken by Gerry Deiter, it is Imagine that truly digs deep into the heart with it's logic and honesty. The gift of the song Give Peace A Chance is the simplicity of "All we are saying .." and the fact that the producer Andre Perry, miked Lennon so closely that the urgency and sincerity in his voice is embedded in the track, one human voice with an important, simple message that transcends time and cultures.
