Music Video Shot With iPhone 3G S

Ohio-based band BJSR has a new music video for the track “Play”, which was recorded from start to finish with new video-capable iPhone 3GS by local company Showdown Productions. Kyle Brock, of Showdown Productions, told Wired:
“The song was written by Ben Rivet, the main character of the video. [Rivet] was purchasing a new iPhone and came up with the idea to promote his music. We wanted to test the limits of the iPhone video, and show off what it was capable of.”
Watch the music video after the cut:
With a steady cam contraption, the iPhone 3GS seems apt to record high-quality music videos. But aspiring movie-makers beware, Brock reported some minor difficulties while shooting the video:
“The battery life for the iPhone isn’t really meant to capture a lot of film exposures, so we were constantly charging it. It’s not as high-quality as a standard camera we would [normally] use for shooting, but we still feel it turned out extremely well for a phone.”
Artists who don’t have multi-million dollar contracts are always in need of cheaper ways to create. In pricing the iPhone 3GS at $200, Apple has, perhaps unwittingly, provided a new tool for musicians on a tight budget.
How soon will we be seeing other iPhone music videos?
