Some news from the music world from this past 4th of July weekend, and yes, Michael Jackson did dominate the media world yet again but we’ll focus on other news for now:

  • July 4th is a day to be patriotic and celebrate the birth of the country as we know it.  There is no better way to celebrate then to listen to patriotic music.  PasteMagazine had listed the 12 patriotic songs which they think are better than the traditional Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” The list includes Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A,” Ray Charles with “America, the Beautiful” among others. What is your favorite patriotic song? (Pastemagazine)
  • Legendary and ruthless record label owner, Allen Klein (pictured above) of ABKCO Music & Records (One of the largest independent labels in the world) died on the 4th of July, at the age of 77. According to the Dailymail in the UK, the man who managed the Rolling Stones and was seen as a key role player in the break-up of the Beatles, passed away in New York after battling the Alzheimer’s disease. (DailyMail)
  • According to Diditleak, here are some albums which leaked this weekend:  August Burns Red – Constellations due out July 14th, Kiss Kiss- The Meek Shall Inherit What’s Left due out July 7th, Behemoth- Evangelion due out August 7th and Just Jack -All Night Cinemas due out August 17th. What did you think of the list of patriotic songs?
