Petri Purho Includes Free Music in Experimental Gameplay
Jul 14, 2009 - By Morelli
Petri Purho’s entry for the Experimental Gameplay Project, called Post I.T. Shooter, is made out of post-it notes (!), and ends up leading to a vast archive of weird electronic music.
The music featured is The Love God by Martinibomb, which you stream and download for free at Comfort Stand Recordings. The label shut down in 2006, but their entire catalog is available for anyone to download and remix under a Commons License. Watch a gameplay video after the cut:
Purho also designed Crayon Physics, and explains the concept of Post I.T. on his blog:
“The theme was Unexperimental Shooter. Don’t ask me why. I tried to stick to theme to the best of ability, which turned out to be harder than I originally thought it would be. (…) The other cool part about the game is that it generates space invaders randomly. The algorithm for this was way too fun to write and play around with and it was inspired by Jared Tarbell’s Invader Fractal algorithm.”
The game is a 7.4 Mb download, available at Kloonigames.com. Browse hundreds of free albums and compilations at the official Comfort Stand Recordings site.
