Chris Garneau: BeatCrave Fav
By Laura AguirreChris Garneau and I have one thing in common, we both have great taste in lampshades. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter has managed to establish a unique style in the world of folk music during the past couple of years. After a not-so-successful first album (Music for Tourist), Garneau is back with his second album El Radio, which was released earlier this month. Although, Garneau still keeps his piano and soft vocals on the forefront, in El Radio Garneau successfully trades off between sad and soulful to a more playful carnival-like tone. Garneau may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the up-and-coming singer-songwriter adds an exquisite and unique feel to his music and lyrics that compare him to no other. His song Fireflies, off of his new album, reminds me of the film The Orphanage; well-dressed children chasing each other in a desolate playground.
The truth is that Garneau will take your imagination on the ride of its life and in the end you’ll be forever grateful. He is one-of-a-kind and gentle, and he’s redefining folk music along the way. Check him out in our BeatCrave Fav series below.
