Monsters of Folk Offering Free MP3 Download
By Jeffrey Hyatt
Monsters of Folk, the new supergroup of folktastic proportion featuring Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and M. Ward, have a self-titled album ready for public consumption on September 22.
But right now the folksy foursome are providing a little taste of what’s to come with a free MP3 download of the song “Say Please.”
Drop by monstersoffolk.com, type in “please” in the password box and the song is yours.
If you like your folk with a rock n’ roll edge this free MP3 definitely fits the bill. It has the cool (sing-a-long in the car) harmonies, the rootsy vibe, some nice, plugged-in guitar action and just an overall retro-cool feeling that fits in nicely with any summer playlist. Oberst, Ward, and Jame’s alter-ego “Yim Yames” all share vocal duties.
So not really folk, but kind of. Alt.Folk, let’s call it.
Still, based on the one song, I have to say I’m pretty jazzed for the full-length album.
What do you think of the new song from Monsters of Folk? Are you planning to buy the album?
