Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform their legendary, 1975 album Born to Run in its entirety when the tour hits Chicago’s United Center on September 20th, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The band will play other songs, of course, but the full Born to Run is what should generate the most buzz among fans. Besides the famous title song, the album features “Thunder Road,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out,” “Night,“ “Backstreets,” “Meeting Across the River,” “She’s the One” and “Jungleland” – all standout tracks and concert favorites through the years.

And now all eight songs performed together in one set.

Springsteen joins an impressive list of artists who have taken to the ‘let’s play the whole album’ trend; Public Enemy, the Pixies, Aerosmith, Genesis, Van Morrison and Steely Dan are among those providing fans a little something different.

Taking the trend and juicing it up is Steely Dan. The band is currently on a four-city tour performing their classic albums “Aja,’’ “Gaucho,’’ and “The Royal Scam’’ front-to-back, followed by an all-request show.

If you’re bummed you cannot make it to the Windy City to witness The Boss perform Born to Run, there are rumors swirling here and there that Springsteen might perform similar full-album shows in other cities this fall.

Let’s hope so.

Rolling Stone even mentions an Internet rumor that has Springsteen playing one album a night during his five-night stand at Giants Stadium this September and October.

Tickets for the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Chicago show go on sale Saturday, August 1st via Ticketmaster.com.
