I know you’ve seen it. 12 million-plus people have seen it in the last ten days. So pretty good chance you’ve seen it also.

I’m speaking of the latest YouTube sensation currently zigzagging across the Internet: Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz’s Wedding Entrance Dance.

(if you really haven’t seen it it’s posted below)

The power of the web strikes again. Or maybe we just like to watch other people get down and get funky on the dance floor – or in this case a church aisle. The video is up to about nine minutes on the 15 minutes of fame clock, but an interesting by-product of the viral hit is what’s happening with the Chris Brown song featured in the amateur video.

Google is highlighting the fact that the singer’s “Forever” has shot up to #4 on the iTunes chart and #3 on Amazon’s MP3 store.

According to Reuters, “Forever” sold 50,000 downloads during the week ended July 26 (via Nielsen SoundScan).

In a blog post this morning, Google said,

“…the rights holders were able to capitalize on the massive wave of popularity generated by “JK Wedding Entrance Dance” — in the last week, searches for “Chris Brown Forever” on YouTube have skyrocketed, making it one of the most popular queries on the site…’

Sony Music, Chris Brown’s label, must be happy. Chris Brown must be happy! The guy has had an eventful year, to say the least, and this chart resurgence must feel like a life-saver. Ironically, Brown posted his video statement about the Rihanna brouhaha just a day before Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson posted their video dance magic.

We’ve seen plenty of comebacks, and even if Brown isn’t all the way back, the idea that a funny, video clip of happy Minnesotans dancing down the wedding aisle having an accidental halo effect on Chris Brown’s career is definitely one for the books. The marketing books, I’m sure.

If anything, Brown should send the newlyweds a really nice wedding present.
