Christina Aguilera, Joe Walsh, and Weezer Become Online DJs

Since the record industry (or any industry for this matter) seems to getting worse day after day and DJs at all our beloved radio stations are getting fired left and right, why not become an online DJ?

According to the Associated Press, that’s what Christina Aguilera plans on doing. In the interview, she stated that her albums have always started out with concepts and that producers would always state she would be a great DJ based on her diverse taste in music. The Eagles‘ Joe Walsh has also hooked up with the same people for his own station and pretty soon, Weezer will be in the mix too.

Find out more on the three stations after the jump!

The virtual airwaves have gone “A.P.E.” on today when Artist Personal Experience radio stations debuted from Christina Aguilera and the Eagles‘s Joe Walsh. Both artists’ respective A.P.E. Radio stations are distributed across Clear Channel Radio’s “iheartradio” network (www.iheartradio.com), which includes hundreds of local radio websites; the popular iheartradio mobile app, which has been downloaded by 2.4 million people in just 10 months; embeddable widgets; and each artist’s site, ChristinaAguilera.com and Eaglesband.com.

According to a press statement:

When the public tunes into Aguilera’s channel, they’ll hear the singer discussing everything from music to motherhood to fashion.  The station will also feature Aguilera’s personally selected playlist of some of her favorite songs, including a diverse catalog of artists such as Santigold, Nina Simone, Black Sabbath, David Bowie and many more.

Similarly, the Eagles’ A.P.E. channel is set to include station host and band guitarist Joe Walsh offering anecdotes on his early days in music, with topics ranging from destroying hotel rooms to poignant recollections of the Kent State shootings.  Music from the Eagles themselves will also be featured on occasion, accompanied by behind-the-scenes stories about the songs. Walsh has also selected tracks from his favorite artists including the Beatles, Allman Brothers Band, Kings of Leon, Wilco, Sly and the Family Stone and more to air throughout the programming day.

Do you think that they are doing this for more than fun or are they hoping to profit? Will you be listening?
