Crystal Stilts: BeatCrave Fav

I believe it’s already been well-established that new wave is back and here to stay for a while. Its close friend in the garage rock/punk sub-genre can be found in Brooklyn-based band, Crystal Stilts. What’s funny is how delightfully shoe gaze-y they are for at least two or three tracks, yet how seamlessly they can move a few decades back into 60′s classic rock. So which genre are they? The more appropriate question would be, who cares?

Crystal Stilts are a little bit Magnetic Fields with a touch of Interpol; since their formation in 2003, they’ve released three notable albums and have evolved from duo to quartet (and include the talents of Vivian Girls drummer, Frankie Rose). Thriving on the support of listeners and not uber-cool aesthetics alone, they are a choice pick for today’s BeatCrave Fav – and if you feel the same way, vote for them in Friday’s poll!
