Jack White Plans To Release Solo Song
By Jeffrey Hyatt
If he weren’t already busy enough with Raconteurs, Dead Weather and The White Stripes, Jack White is set to release a new solo single, “Fly Farm Blues.”
The song will be released August 11 via White’s own Third Man Records as a special vinyl 7-inch single and via iTunes.
White wrote the new song for film director Davis Guggenheim while filming the music documentary It Might Get Loud with Jimmy Page and The Edge, which opens this month.
According to a write-up on the Third Man Records website, “Fly Farm Blues” was written on the spot and recorded to two-track in the attic of Fly Farm, TN, all while being filmed for It Might Get Loud.
The release of “Fly Farm Blues” also adds to the possibility of a full-fledged Jack White solo album somewhere down the road; White mentioned in a recent interview with Music Connection that he hoped to start working on a solo album by the end of 2009.
The end of the year draws closer, but any talk of a Jack White solo album remains speculative. The release of “Fly Farm Blues” certainly doesn’t hurt to rev up anticipation of such a project.
