Poll: Will You Miss Paula Abdul on American Idol?

It seems like a lot of rumors are turning out to be true this week. Paula Abdul has quit American Idol for good. It has been confirmed by none other than… her twitter account?

Even though the American Idol executives weren’t even sure about bringing Kara DioGuardi back as another female host, it turns out they renewed her contract as well as TRIPLED Ryan Seacrest‘s salary that goes for $45 million over a span of three years. As for Abdul, well – she was only getting paid around two or three million through her former contract. When executives offered her a $10 million dollar multi-year contract, she refused because she believed she was worth more than that to the show.

Fox Network and the show’s production companies, Fremantle Media North America and 19 Entertainment, sent out a statement saying:

“Paula Abdul has been an important part of the ‘American Idol’ family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.”

AFTER Paula twittered the following:

“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all..Cont’d… [...] I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent,but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon [...] What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me [...] It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month [...] I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”

I was never a fan of Paula on the show for her adoration of contestants’ clothing or style. She was just an 80′s version of Britney Spears (just not as huge) for being a mediocre singer who could just dance really well. DioGuardi isn’t that much better but she has written songs for numerous superstars and totally out-sang AND out-bikini-ed the Bikini Girl on the finale.
