Denver Brings Stripper Radio to America
By Seraphina L.
Do you know any strippers? We don’t mean to make any assumptions about our readers but we just wanted to share a helpful tidbit in case you did.
Enter 101.5 The Poll, a new radio program based out of Denver. The new program focuses on hit songs that strippers can dance to – possibly with a “pole.” (Get it?) Although we don’t know if this is a stunt until they fill the spot with something else, one cannot help but think that times – as old folks would say – “are-a-changin’!”
Denver’s station, KTNI, had an indie loving program that drastically changed to one that now only plays tunes such as Warrant’s “Cherry Pie” and Buckcherry’s “Crazy Bitch.” They also brand themselves with the tag line: “Our hits our bigger!” Obviously, “Poll” is referring to “pole” – but who knows! Maybe, just maybe, the entire program will continued to be based on votes.
When asked about the new program, the general manager of the station’s parent company explained:
“The research is in and the numbers are irrefutable. There is a large, gaping format hole that has been all but ignored. Classic Non Stop Stripper Hits, from the 80’s, 90’s and today. This is a very exciting time and we are both humbled and honored to be at the forefront of this new wave of music programming. So please welcome to 101.5 The Pole, the first of what will soon be the lap dance heard around the world.”
That last sentence is just asking for it. If you are particularly interested in this “new wave of radio programming,” you can go ahead and go their official website. (Yes, I feel a little sick for linking to that.) Beware though. Before you can enter the site, there is a blatant warning stating: “Notice, this site may contain material unsuitable for those under 18 years old.” You’ll also realize we didn’t create that logo out of thin air.
So there may be many strippers who may actually benefit from this radio station, but who says you can’t buy a CD and practice?
Of course, we wish that indie radio stations could stay on the air like all the other stations out there who are overplaying mainstream crap. However, this was an extreme alternative.
Will you be tuning into 101.5 The Poll anytime soon?
