Wrigley Terminates Commercial Deal With Chris Brown
By Seraphina L.
It’s taken a while since we heard pop sensation, Rihanna, had been brutally beaten by her ex-boyfriend and music colleague, Chris Brown. Until the incident which occurred on the eve of the Grammy Awards, Chris Brown had a pretty clean slate for his image. His hits included “Run It” and “Kiss Kiss.”
One of his most recent songs, “Forever” was even paired up for Wrigley chewing gum since the lyrics included “Double your pleasure, double your fun.” However, Wrigley had been concerned with the reputation they were associated with once Brown had been arrested for suspicion. They had decided to suspend the commercial with Brown dancing to “Forever” with a packet of Wrigley gum was until everything was resolved and believed he had also deserved due legal process.
Now, it looks like everything has finally been wrapped up. After pleading guilty, Brown’s request to serve five years probation was accepted on top of 180 days of community service in his home state of Virginia. Just a day after, it was announced Wrigley officially terminated their advertising campaign with the singer.
The termination is not a surprise to many, since there have been photos of Rihanna bloodied and bruised as proof. Business deals, ironically, do not last forever no matter how much of a clean-cut image a partner once had beforehand.
However, the 2008 single “Forever” seems to be doing well. Thanks to a wedding entrance YouTube sensation, Brown has recently raked in sales. Perhaps, he’ll get lucky again and his bad image will eventually dissolve.
