Lollapalooza: Gaslight Anthem

After being cut from Sunday’s lineup in their own backyard at All Points West, Gaslight Anthem was able to take to the main stage (Chicago 2016) overlooking the Chicago skyline…not quite the same as New York. Brian Fallon and cohorts kicked the day off right starting with “High Lonesome” working their way into “Old White Lincoln,” and then giving the rain-soaked fans a taste of that “’59 Sound.”

More on their performance after the jump!

Fallon let everyone know that Depeche Mode was the first concert he went to and offered the personal insight, “I don’t like mayonnaise but I do like Depeche Mode.” Words to live by. Getting back to the music, the boys played a song about Miles Davis (“Miles Davis and the Cool”) who did some ‘crazy things’ behind closed doors. They ended with drummer Benny Horowitz’s favorite song, “The Backseat”, according to an interview after the show.

There’s no doubt that Gaslight Anthem came to play; especially after missing out on APW. But, because Lollapalooza is one of the last festivals the guys are playing before heading home for a few weeks, their hearts weren’t 100% into it.

Check out their set list.
