Crystal Castles and No Age Injured From Weekend Shows

What is it with summer and musicians frequently getting injured? Not only do mainstream acts get injuries but of course, indie artists do too – and they’re just as bad.

Street Boners and TV Carnage reported that Crystal Castles’ Alice Glass received a concussion at LA’s Hard Fest 2009. Although the police had canceled the event for a “hazard” status, it was actually one of the rave’s riot cops that gave Alice a kick in the head which is currently keeping her in the hospital.

Fellow Crystal Castles member Ethan Kath sent Street and TV Carnage an e-mail reading: “been in the hospital all day, Alice has concussion from being kicked in the head by riot police. i have to like wake her up every 2 hours and ask her to tell me the date and her name.”

This not the first time Glass has gotten a serious injury. For a small girl, she has gotten torn apart at several of her shows. Hopefully, she wakes up and keeps performing her bad ass moves with Kath again really soon. Until then, we wish her well!

Unfortunately, Crystal Castles was not the only band to suffer through horrific pain this weekend. Pitchfork also reports that No Age‘s Randy Randall dislocated his shoulder during a dance off at one of the Round Robin tour shows with Dan Deacon and Deerhunter. Randall and Deerhunter’s front man Brandon Cox began the dance off as Dan Deacon played and according to fans, Randall unfortunately slipped on some beer and fell to the ground. Fans tell Pitchfork that as they waited for an ambulance, Randall seemed to be writhing in pain. If you watch this video below, you can see him fall around the 2:50 mark.

However, the next day Randall played the part of a champ and went on to play No Age’s show at Lollapalooza. In this video, you can see him seated as he plays:

Injuries plague all people who party, we suppose. So it doesn’t matter what type of venue you’re at. Partying hard has consequences but they also make quite the memories. Here’s hoping to partying and luck – luck to not fall into a painful disaster!
