Lollapalooza: The Killers Review and Set List
By Andy Keil
The Killers brought Vegas to the masses last night as they closed out the 13th Lollapalooza festival under Chicago’s skyline. Fake palm trees, neon lights, and flashy visuals turned the Chicago 2016 into Sin City for just under an hour and a half as Brandon Flowers belted out hits like “Human”, “Spaceman”, and the obvious “Mr. Brightside”. With a heat index over 100-degrees and hard packed dirt on the fields of Grant Park, the charade was almost convincing. Flowers conducted the synth-pop pageant in his feather shouldered suit and a newfound confidence in his performance.
Check out more about the show and the set list below…
The show should have been advertised as a 16-song sing-a-long as the roughly 40,000 screaming fans were singing along to all the obvious singles as well as the lesser-known “Shadowplay” which was unexpected. After briefly leaving the stage on the conclusion of “All These Things That I’ve Done”, the guys came back out adding two songs, “Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine” and “When You Were Young”, to their setlist. “I know we can make it if we take is slow,” sang Flowers summing up the festival that was Lollapalooza 2009 in the Killer’s last song of the night. As the last note faded out and the band left the stage, a staggering amount of fans waited for a second encore that would never come.
