Picture 21 The Rolling Stones Head to HBO

The Rolling Stones will be making an appearance on the popular cable network HBO, but it won’t be in the capacity you think. According to Variety, the network “is developing a comedy loosely inspired by the memoirs of former Rolling Stones producer and manager Andrew Loog Oldham. It seems odd right off the bat, but they have decent plan for this. Find out more on the rocker’s sitcom below.

The show is being described as “a fictional account of a young man living the high life with artists and hipsters in London’s vibrant Soho scene in the early 1960s.” I’m getting a Cameron Crowe, Almost Famous vibe here. The series will be executive produced by Lou Adler and Wesley Strick. Oldman has a pretty impressive resume, that boasts of his record label Immediate Records which was the home of young artists such as Rod Stewart and Fleetwood Mac.

This sounds like it could work on a lot of different levels. HBO and cable networks in general have always been able to push boundaries when it comes to satirical comedy. To have a group of young actors emulating the behavior of an earlier version of the Stones will be more than entertaining. I wonder who they’ll get to play Keith Richards?

Are you going to tune for the show?
