David Bowie’s Space Oddity A Redux, Station to Station Albums To Be Reissued
By Seraphina L.
“This is Bowie to Bowie” is a line from a Flight of the Conchords song in which they paid tribute to the superstar.
Well, now all David Bowie fans can celebrate the the musician with reissues of Space Oddity and Station to Station!
It’s been 40 years since the release of the mishmash of folk and progressive rock called Space Oddity and it makes perfect sense for Virgin/EMI to release it as a deluxe reissue. According to P4k, this redux includes: a two-disc version of the record, complete with unreleased demos, radio sessions, and several alternative album mixes. The glorious collection will be available onĀ 2-CD set, 180-gram limited edition vinyl, and as a download starting November 3rd.
As if THAT weren’t enough for Bowie fans to get deliriously giddy, there is also news of a Station to Station reissue. The album is known for its development of Bowie’s taste for funk and soul. This trend can also be heard later during the “Berlin-trilogy” era with Brian Eno. Station to Station will become a 4-CD reissue next year making it 34 years since its original release. Although we’re not sure why it’s only on CD and not on vinyl as well, The Thin White Duke’s website states that it is “Due in the first half of 2010.”
The first CD will be the original record now in stereo sound, the second CD will be the original record in 5.1 DVD surround sound, and the spanning across the third and fourth CDs will be the recording of the March 23, 1976 Bowie show at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum (which was already popular on the internet to begin with). Harry Maslin is responsible for the mixing on these last two CDS, and it’s definitely worth to hear the famed 15-song set in a higher quality.

Berlin-trilogy? Station To Station is nothing to do with Brian Eno. Berlin-trilogy was Low, "Heroes" and Lodger

It's gonna be amazing to finally have the Nassau-show officially released!!!
The only thing I don't like about this, is that they're gonna edit out parts of the fantastic drumsolo of Panic in Detroit. I really hope they'll change their minds about that within the release!
