Michael Jackson Buried on Birthday – Spike Lee Celebrates
By Andy Keil
It’s been seven weeks since the King of Pop, Michael Jackson died in California of to-be-determined causes. On August 29, the singer would be celebrating his 51st birthday and it just so happens to be the day the Jackson family has chosen to bury him, according to a Jackson family spokesman Ken Sunshine. A private ceremony will be held at Forest Lawn-Glendale eight miles North of downtown Los Angeles. According to Sunshine, Jackson will be buried in the cemetery’s Great Mausoleum on the Holy Terrace.
But, like rapper Jay-Z said at his headlining performance at this year’s All Points West Festival, “We don’t mourn death, we celebrate life.” Filmmaker Spike Lee has invested in that mentality and on August 29 will be commemorating Jackson’s life with a block party type bash in New York City’s Borough of Kings.
DJ Spinna will be on the one’s and two’s playing all things Michael Jackson while Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will name August 29 as “Michael Jackson Day.”
How do you plan to remember Michael Jackson?

I wish I could be there. I'm in school and working but will take the time to listen to his music, say a prayer for him, his children and his family. Maybe some club here in the Washington, DC area will follow in Spike lee's footsteps. Leave it to a New Yorker to come up with a great idea. Wish I'd thought of it. Way to go, Homeboy!

I don't get how Michael's family is burying him in a public place..because can't somebody just dig up his body again? And then A WHOLE BUNCH of rumors will just start AGAIN…I think Michael just wants to be left in peace…and not have to deal with rumors…
