Black Eyes Peas Set Another Record
By Krystal Clark
Darn you and your Boom Boom Pow’s and repetitive, yet infectious beats! The Black Eyed Peas know how to make moves when it comes to the music charts. According to the Associated Press, the Peas have really got something to sing about. They’ve just broke another record on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with not one, but two of their songs. Find out more below.
“Boom, Boom, Pow” and the follow up single “I Gotta Feeling” have dominated the top spot of the Billboard singles chart for 20 consecutive weeks! They have held steady at number one for 12 and eight weeks, respectively. The Black Eyed Peas have had their fair share of tongue lashings from critics, so it makes you wonder how they feel about those bashings now.
The group’s front man Will. i. Am responded to the groups current standing in a recent interview.
“There’s a part of me that wants to be cocky, but then I can’t be cocky,”There’s a part of me that wants to call out all of my other peers and competitors. I don’t want to say no names because I’m not like that, but part of me wants to do that. And would it be wrong if I did that? Yes it would. I’m not like that.”
He’s better than me. I’d be doing a back flip at this point. You worked hard and you deserve to relish in that success. He also went on to explain their work ethic when it came to producing this latest album. They didn’t listen to the radio, but hit the underground club scene for inspiration.
“When I picked up `I Gotta Feeling’ we tested in the clubs, looked at people, how they responded to a song they didn’t know. We’re looking at what’s the best summer song out of all the songs, let’s go out there and have a party,” he explained.
Perhaps their underground club “work” is what caused them to produce such infectious beats. It took me months to get “Boom, Boom, Pow” out of my head! The Black Eyed Peas latest album The E.N.D. is in stores now, and available on iTunes.
