Michael Jackson Film Will Be Released Two Days Earlier

Michael Jackson’s death was a tragic one, and it gets a bit more depressing when Hollywood sees his cardiac arrest at 50 as a goldmine. However, the industry must give the people what they want. Details for an epic event below proves they’ve gone far beyond the ideas of making his last rehearsals a live CD/DVD set.
As we previously mentioned, we knew it was only a matter of time a film was going to come out of the pop star’s passing but we didn’t think it would come so soon. Well known director and choreographer, Kenny Ortega (Dirty Dancing, Newsies, High School Musical) who has worked with Jackson numerous times during the singer’s career, will be the one calling the shots for soon to be released film, This Is It. Ortega was the the tour choreographer and he also directed Jackson’s memorial service.
According to Reuters, the film will combine the live footage of Jackson’s rehearsal from the former tour with the same title and although they had originally set an October 30th release, Sony Pictures have decided to push the date up to October 28th. The tour’s promoter, AEG Live, has over 100 hours of footage so Ortega will have plenty to choose from when it comes to what the film will include.
Although Ortega is saddened by his client’s death, he also sounds like he can’t wait to share what he saw on stage during the last days by telling the world “Fans will see Michael as they have never seen him before — this great artist at work.” He sentimentally went on and called the footage “Raw, emotional, moving and powerful.”
Tickets for the film, This Is It, go on sale Sept. 27th but it will only be for a limited two-week run around the world.
