Panic At The Disco With A ‘New Perspective’

panic Panic At The Disco With A New Perspective

According to a Reuters article, the remaining members of theatrical pop punk quartet, Panic At The Disco, aren’t worried about making music (maybe they should be) after the band split back in July. Lead singer Brendon Urie and drummer Spencer Smith kept the Panic At The Disco name while guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker started a new group, the Young Veins.

Of course Urie still has a big head about the future of the project. While working on their last album that was eventually titled Pretty. Odd., Urie expressed to the media how the band scrapped an entire albums worth of material in order to “re-focus” which resulting in the band dropping the “!” to appear more grown up (they know who their audience is, right?).

Not only that, but Urie went so far as to compare the new material to the greatest pop band in the last fifty years and probably for at least another fifty, The Beatles. But, the sad part about the whole deal, their fans (mostly 16-year-old girls) actually latched on to those statements and started touting PatD as actually sounding like The Beatles. Blasphemy!

Now, the band is readying a new album and according to the article Urie and Smith already have ten songs ready to go for the new album. There is even a single out now, “New Perspective” that was written for a film soundtrack to Jennifer’s Body.

The making of this record brings a whole new round of outlandish statements. After the modest quote “There’s always a bit of nerves that come with expectations and new situations,” Urie continues right on with “Some stuff sounds like Frank Sinatra and some stuff sound…kind of like The Who.” …Really?

I find it pretty amazing how a band that started off as a theater show could morph into The Beatles after just one album and then by the third they’re practically Frank Sinatra with a touch of The Who. Now that’s some serious talent. I wonder how they do it?

How do you feel about Panic comparing themselves to the classics?

holy shit you fucking suck! you didnt like them already and put in no effort to even listen to their music with fair judgement. youre a terrible writer and you know nothing about music. stop being a jealous prick and do your job without your personal feelings. making a band look bad because youre a jealous asshole you fucking hack. thank you.

Well, they are just basically saying that their inspiration comes from those great classic bands!!! geez. they are just saying that the sound of their album has been guided with the work from bands such as the beetles and the who. get the facts right first before you go dissing such an awesome band.. !!

Have you actually taken the time to listen to Pretty. Odd.? Brendon was not suggesting that they as a band compare to The Beatles, he was suggesting that they are a heavy influence on their sound. Which shows! Panic is merely trying to incorporate an older sound into their music; not compare themselves to the legends of yesteryear. I personally applaud them for having the guts to take on a more classic pop sound. It obviously was not a move to sell more records.

Well, maybe those who replied to this article aren't physically 16 year old girls, but it's safe to say they have the IQ's of 12 year old girls. Always fun to see a bunch of tool bags get enraged when someone makes some good, if not critical, observations about a band as shitty as panic at the homo. Grow up you fruit cakes. Maybe if you went back and listened to some REAL, Talented, bands, like The Who or The Beatles, you would realize the folly of your childish posts. So grow a pair and try listening to some quality, douches!

Just because they say it sounds like a certain doesn't mean they think they're as good. They've saiud in thousands of interviews they they don't think they're nearly as good as The Beatles. But the first paragraph was good reporting.

All right, you're a total douche bag. I'm an 18-year-old male (not a 16-year-old girl) and I happen to like Panic At The Disco's music. Just because Urie said that his music had a Beatles feel to it or that they were strongly influenced by them doesn't mean that he's saying that his band is on par with them. And also, when you place the Beatles upon this godlike pedestal you make yourself look like a typical music elitist with a closed mind. Just because everyone always goes ape-shit over the Beatles doesn't make them the greatest band ever. How good a band is can't be measured by how many albums they've sold; it can only be measured on an individual level by the listener. Stop being an asshole.

panic ripped off the beatles. it's as simple as that. if you've listened to the beatles, not one song, but early and later songs, you'll know how they sound. you'll know a beatles' song when you hear it. that's because they have their own style and sound. the fact is, panic ripped off the beatles. they're not original. they even try to be like the beatles in the "nine afternoon" video. of course they say they're not as good as the beatles… they're aren't. they're not stupid. it's just funny how in order to sound more mature they have to rip off the beatles. hey if you like them, that's fine. hell, i even like the songs in Pretty. Odd i just think they ripped off the beatles.

one more thing… look at their name: Panic! at the Disco…. look at this beatles' song title: Oh! Darling

What I find profound about this is that you say 'they have the IQ's of 12 year old girls' yet your comment includes 'panic at the homo', 'tool bags' and 'douches', language typical of a young teen male. Think about that.
You also write that we should listen to some 'REAL, Talented, bands', but you failed to take into account that your taste in music may be different to the taste of others. You also state that the posts others make are childish, however, it would appear that it is your post that is childish as you reacted impulsively and impartially, behavior which is found mostly among children.
Maybe next time you post a comment you should stop to consider that what you're writing makes sense before you post it.
