Apple Approves Spotify iPhone App
By Andy Keil
For those who don’t know, Spotify is a program that streams music from most major record labels (support for the independents is on the way) at the click of the button. Unfortunately, it’s only available if you live in the U.K., or if you are amongst the select few in the U.S. who is sent an invite code for the service.
There is hope for the rest of us since Spotify has been planning a stateside launch for late summer according to an interview with founder Daniel Ek.
As fall grows near, Spotify gains even more momentum thanks to Apple approving their request for an iPhone app that they applied for back in July according to another article in Forbes. The app is set to cost £10 (a little over $14) and will work only for premium users (a cost of $16 a month.) “We had a great dialogue with Apple from day one,” Founder Daniel Ek told BBC News. “We’re not surprised but we’re thrilled,” he continued.
Share the love Spotify. There’s plenty of buzz surrounding the “iTunes competition” and I for one am getting antsy! This could be a tech battle that could end up benefiting the consumer more than the business. And it begins…
Will you be using Spotify once it’s released in America?
