Flashing Red Lights: BeatCrave Fav
By Lindsey Darden
Mack Slevin has been the guitarist with the most-est for years, having rounded out such Los Angeles bands as Darci Cash and The Absentee. As natural to do after playing others’ music for a while, Slevin took to writing his own music, and since 2005 he has been elected frontman of Flashing Red Lights. Having imported the talents of The Absentee’s guitarist, drummer, and bassist as well as Darci Cash’s frontman to lend a hand in his endeavors, Slevin was able to finally breathe life into his work on stage and in studio.
The result has been intelligent music without starchy impersonal overproduction. The band’s 7-track EP, Bridges, is a fine example of music complex enough despite its simple components. They’re currently working on a full-length album with updates soon to follow. Personally, we’re glad Slevin scratched the itch! Check Flashing Red Lights out in our BeatCrave Fav series below.
