Weezer Reveals Raditude Cover Art
By Seraphina L.
If you thought the non-self titled Wilco album, Wilco (The Album), was silly and if you thought Weezer‘s new album title, Raditude, was interesting, just take a look at the cover art above!
This is really their cover art and it’s truly a photograph. In fact, Weezer’s frontman, Rivers Cuomo, was flipping through a National Geographic magazine when the photo caught his eye. The dog caught mid-air in a living room was taken by photographer, Jason Neely, and the photo was featured in the magazine as part of National Geographic‘s series of reader-submitted photo contests. We’re not sure if Neely won or not but having his photo slapped on millions of albums seems like enough of a prize to us!
After the band had contacted Neely for his permission to use the photograph, he not only revealed that the dog’s name is Sidney but the fact that Sidney is also a huge Weezer fan. It’s simply kismet!
Think this photo is great but would like to play around with it some more?
Our friends over at Spinner is currently allowing you to download the photo and an optional helpful overlay so you can insert Sidney in your own photos! They’re asking for you to send Sidney around the world. So, landmarks, monuments, and more are welcome. You can e-mail them, tweet them, or just link them in the comments section and they’ll post your photo!
Sidney = Raditude. Yes? No? What do you think of Weezer’s cover?
