Concert Tickets with Jay-Z, Minus the Bear, Pelican and more

This is the best sports weekend in recent memory: The US Open tennis finals take place, pro-football begins, college football starts playing some meaningful games and baseball begins in home stretch. Chances are if your a sports fan your going to spend most of this weekend in front of your TV, probably at the expense of your relationship. Because of this, this might also be a good weekend to buy your significant other something that will count as a date night in the future, and what better date night is there then a concert at your local Live Nation controlled venue.

This is a good weekend for concert  too as veteran rap acts (Jay-Z, Ghostface Killah), rock bands with connections with the animal kingdom (bears, pelican’s and a cobra’s, oh my) and even nu-wave punk bands all have tickets for the offering. So do the right thing and buy your significant other some ticket’s this weekend. God knows after ten hours of watching football your relationship is going to need it…

Jay-Z

Following a run opening for Coldplay across the pond in merry ol’ England, Jay-Z (a.k.a. Hova) will celebrate his new album “The Blueprint Pt. 3″ with a fall tour of US collegiate arenas and Canadian hockey arenas (just call it the “Hova Meets the Habs” tour). The tour begins 10/9 in University Park, PA (home of the Penn State Nitiny Lions) and rolls through the US and Canada before coming to an end 11/22 in Austin, TX (home of the Texas Longhorns). Minus The Bear

Indie rockers Minus The Bear (*insert joke here about the bear leaving the band for musical reasons*) has announced a month long fall tour in anticipation of the early 2010 release of their next album. The band begins their tour October 30th in Eugene, OR and then makes a big circle before coming to an end November 28th in beautiful Boise, ID. Tickets go on sale this Saturday and you can find all dates here.

All American Rejects/ Taking Back Sunday/ Anberlin

One of the better co-headlining tours of the season has (finally) been officially announced as The All American Rejects and Taking Back Sunday will share the stage for a month long tour with the always wonderful Anberlin opening all dates. The East Coast-centric tour (nothing passed Texas- at least not yet) begins November 3rd in East Lansing, MI and plays dates everywhere from New York to Mississippi before finally coming to an end on December 6th in Miami, FL. Pelican/ Black Cobra/ Sweet Cobra

Epic instrumental-pro-metal-rockers Pelican have announced a rather lengthy fall tour in support of their upcoming What We All Come To Need release. The tour features a cobra-centric opening bill with Black Cobra and Sweet Cobra in tow (what, was Cobra Starship busy?). The jaunt begins October 18th in Minneapolis (home of Prince and Brett Farve) and runs through December 11th in Chicago, IL (home of deep dish pizza and hot dogs with pickles on them). Ghostface Killah

Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah has announced a October tour in support of his upcoming “Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City” (who would have thought rap would eventually meet an L. Frank Baum novel?) . The tour is set to begin October 2nd in Albany, NY and run through the month before coming to an end on Halloween in Boulder, CO.
