Vampire Weekend Announce New Album Contra
By Seraphina L.
It’s time to get your polo t-shirts back out of your closet, talk about your boat (or pretend you have one like all the other rich kids), and be up on all the Wes Anderson happenings again.
The boys of Vampire Weekend are back with a new album titled Contra via XL Recordings. Slated for release on January 12, 2010 the sophomore album will undoubtedly face high expectations after their extreme breakout self-titled album. Contra will have 10 tracks and according to vocalist, Ezra Koenig, “It’s definitely going to be a recognizably Vampire Weekend sound.” However, he also announced what will be changing.
Read more about it and check both the cover art and track list out after the jump!
Although the new album will be comprised of their well-known Afro-pop, Koenig went on to tell Entertainment Weekly:
“There are going to be new sounds [...] We’re trying to challenge ourselves not to use the same bag of tricks that we used on the first album — different instruments, stuff like that.”
Here is the cover art. Yes, she’s wearing a polo shirt. Fitting, right?

Want to get all pumped up Ivy League style? Well, here’s the track listing for you to prepare:
1. Horchata
2. White Sky
3. Holiday
4. California English
5. Taxi Cab
6. Run
7. Cousins
8. Giving Up the Gun
9. Diplomat’s Son
10. I Think Ur a Contra
Will you be buying Vampire Weekend’s new album?
