Bob Dylan Paintings Head To Denmark

Bob Dylan has been an active painter since the 60’s and it’s not a secret when one of his songs is titled, “When I Paint My Masterpiece.”

According to Variety, the National Gallery of Denmark will be exhibiting 100 acrylics and watercolors done by the infamous musician. Works will include 30 canvases from Dylan’s “Brazil Series” along with numerous paintings from the “Drawn Blank Series” which was debuted in a German exhibit and published in book form in 2008.

The National Gallery of Denmark is home to earlier works of French artist, Henri Matisse, and it is also a main reason why the Danish gallery was chosen by Dylan. The gallery’s chief curator Kasper Monrad said, “Several of Dylan’s images reveal an affinity for some of the modernist masters.”

If you are a fan of Dylan’s music, you’ve probably seen some of his work before. The album covers for Self Portrait, Planet Waves, and Music From Big Pink all feature his own artwork.

It’s great to see musicians branch out in other artistic forms and this is just one many high honors for Bob Dylan.

If you were in Denmark, would you go see his exhibition?

Of course! Who wouldn't? I've seen his Drawn Blanks Series and they are highly sophisticated examples of the Nuahge Movement.
