Concert Ticket son Sale: Kanye West, Devo,Dashboard Confessional…
By Brian Spiegel
While it might not be the most prolific weekend ever in the concert world, Live Nation and Ticketmaster looks like it will be getting some of your money whether your a classic rock fan, indie rock fan, punk rock fan or even a fan of artists who storm award show stages. In other words: this week’s on sale’s feature a little bit of everything.
Enjoy…
Kanye West/ Lady Gaga
Scene: Kanye West‘s concert publicist returns from a long weekend at an exclusive Hawaiian resort which featured no TV, phone, internet connection or newspaper. Upon arriving home he goes right to sleep before checking his messages. He wakes up, makes some coffee and decides to check the newspaper for the first time in a few days.

Publicist: WHAT THE FUCK! HE DID WHAT!
Scene ends with publicist sobbing with head in hands.
Showing that the best laid plans of mice and men… blah blah blah, less then a week after losing whatever public support he had after storming the stage at the VMA’s, Kanye West has formally announced the dates for his long discussed tour with the, umm, eccentric Lady Gaga. This is what you would call bad timing. The duo’s tour is set to begin November 10th in Phoenix, AZ and will run through January 24th in Dallas, TX. Tickets go on sale starting this weekend via Live Nation. (UPDATE: Well, apparently between Wednesday and Friday all the dates disappeared from the Live Nation website. Looks like tickets won’t go on sale this weekend. Hmm… wonder why… Check back next week).
I’ve seen Kanye before and he is a great live act. Most impressively, he treats his live performances as a rock show and doesn’t surround himself with an a posse of rappers to finish half of his lines onstage. Now if only he would shut the F-up so he could get people to these concerts. Lady Gaga is also a good performer live. She’s kinda crazy though. I would love to be a fly on the wall backstage at these shows. You can find all dates here.
DEVO
Classic Ohio- new wave/ punk band DEVO have announced a fall tour to coincide with the reissue of their “Q:Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo” and “Freedom of Choice” albums. The tour will see the now 50-something band play two nights at each city, each night preforming one of the reissues front to back (first night attendees will hear “Q: Are We Not Men”, second night will hear “Freedom of Choice”). Tour dates look like this: 11/03- 04 Los Angeles; 11/06-07 San Francisco; 11/08-09 Seattle; 11/12-13 Chicago; 11/15-16 Washington, D.C.; 11/20-21 New York; 11/23-24 Toronto. Tickets go on sale this weekend.
JAY FARRAR/ BEN GIBBARD
Jay Farrar of Son Volt and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie (and the Postal Service), have announced a brief tour in support of their upcoming Jack Kerouac “Big Sur” inspired album “One Fast Move Or I’m Gone”. The four date tour begins October 23rd in LA and then hits San Francisco on the 24th, Chicago on the 26th and New York on the 28th. You can find all the info here and tickets go on sale beginning this week.
DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL/ NEW FOUND GLORY
Acoustic based emo rockers Dashboard Confessional have announced a huge fall tour in support of their upcoming fall release. Chris Carrabba and co. will be sharing the stage with pop-punkers New Found Glory, sister/sister rockers Meg & Dia and the space bar shy NeverShoutNever! The tour begins November 8th in Kansas City, MO and runs through December 18th in Atlanta, GA. Tickets went on sale Thursday and are available now. You can find all dates here.

Yes, Kanye had really bad timing, but the cost to cancel the shows may have been more than he wanted to pay.
