Julian+Casablancas The Strokes Julian Casablancas Releases Solo Single

If you’re a fan of the band, The Strokes here’s a story that might interest you. Vocalist and songwriter Julian Casablancas is venturing into the music world as a solo musician. He’s taking a step away from the band to release some of his own material to the listening audience. According to NME, the singer has just posted his first solo track on his official MySpace page.

The song is entitled, “11th Dimension,” and will be available nationwide on November 2nd. The song is one of the singles off of his long awaited solo effort,  Phrazes for the Young, which will hit stores on October 19th. Casablancas spoke to NME about his songwriting process and what fans can expect from his album.

“I write stuff on a generic keyboard that has an organ or electric piano sound. Or on a guitar, but then, as I was building the song, if I thought it should be more like a whistling sound, with a keyboard and a laptop, it’s easy to make that particular melody anything you want.”

As for those of you who think he went through this process alone, he stresses that while making this album he had some help. He still worked with the same engineers and producers who did The Strokes’ previous records. It feels kind of odd that the single he’s released on his MySpace page won’t hit stores until November, when the album drops a month earlier. That sounds like some weird marketing to me.

Do you plan on buying Julian Casablancas’ debut album when it hits stores?
