Dan Deacon Launches Really Hard Poster Contest

Don’t have anything to do on a Friday night besides twiddle your thumbs? Well, we got you. Actually, Dan Deacon‘s got you.

Although we’re still a little upset for him canceling on FYF Fest, we’re happy to announce that he is, indeed, going on tour again. Deacon sets out on tour on October 1st and this time he is solo. There won’t be 14 others on stage with him anymore.

To get everyone pumped up for the tour, he’s got a challenge for everyone. See this photo we posted above? Well, that’s just less than half of the insane poster Deacon has made as part of a contest. The contest’s winner will get 1) $500 cash 2) A portrait of you painted by Dan Deacon 3) One of the last copies of Wham City Box Set #1 and 4) A copy of each of Dan Deacon’s first eight releases (which are IMPOSSIBLE to find) To participate in the contest, all you have to do is…

1) Name every single cartoon character in the poster above (made my Post Typography – see the entire poster here). That’s it, but just look at at all those tiny characters. There is up to 242 of them! The diagrammed version of the poster with numbers 1 through 242, (which you can get here) includes these specific instructions:

The winner of the contest will be the first person to correctly name all of the people, animals, characters, or things on the Dan Deacon/Nuclear Power Pants 2009 Tour Poster as numbered in this diagram. Most of these are very specific, only a small number are general, such as #4 is just a raccoon. The only numbers contestants are not responsible for are those in bold gray. Refer to the tour poster when filling out the diagram. The poster can be found online at: www.dandeacon.com.

INCOMPLETE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED. Complete answer lists must be submitted to postercontest@whamcity.com by midnight on November 17th 2009.

Who’s judging?

Judging of the contest is solely up to Dan Deacon, Nuclear Power Pants and Post Typography. Submissions will only be accepted if sent to the e-mail address above.

How many people can win and who can enter?

The ONE contest prize will only be awarded to the first person to submit a correct complete list received, awarded by Dan Deacon. Correct, complete lists received later don’t win. Sorry. If nobody wins, nobody wins. Contest open to anyone other than employees and family members of Wham City, members of the Baltimore Round Robin Tour, and Post Typography. That pretty much explains it all. Oh, and that #4 raccoon thing is the only help you’ll get from us! Good luck! This small type looks official right? Oh, and you don’t have to use that blank form with all the numbers and stuff, but we figured that would be handy.
