Technically, summer is over but that doesn’t mean music festivals have to be. We located two of them on both coasts, and as always we’ve found some choice acts to get your weekend rolling. Take a look at the latest artists who will be performing during the coming fall months.

Check them out below.

  • KCRW Presents: Gavin Castleton and Gardening, Not Architecture | Friday, September 25 | 8:00 pm | Hotel Cafe, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Public radio station 89.9 KCRW brings us two acts this evening. Gardening, Not Architecture – a collaboration coming to you from singer/songwriter Sarah Saturday and producer Beau Sorenson – is a mellow storm of quirky compositions and neither-alto-nor-soprano lyrical musings (stream their music for free here) will take the stage at the evening’s start. Co-headliner  Gavin Castleton – a sincerely  intriguing artist whose music is surprisingly as haunting as its cover art (click here for his “Hope is a Drug” MP3) – will follow. Tickets are available at the door.
  • M.E.A.N.Y. Fest 2009 | Multiple Dates |  7:00 pm | $10 | 21+ | Multiple Venues, See Below | M.E.A.N.Y. (Musicians & Emerging Artists New York) is a chance to see a boat load of up-and-coming talent – whether well-known or under the radar – at some of the most popular venues in New York. The event will take place all over the city until Saturday, October 23rd, so there’s ample time to get waist-deep in it. This weekend’s venues include the Studio at Webster Hall, the Bowery Poetry Club, Connolly’s Club 45, National Underground and The Delancy on Friday, September 25; Crash Mansion, the aforementioned National Underground, and Blender Theatre on Saturday, September 26. • TarFest Music Festival 2009 | Saturday, September 26  | 8:00 pm | $12 |  El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles, CA – Map | The art, film, and music festival is a weekend-long event  – complete with a 5K and 1-mile run on Sunday – with a portion of the proceeds going towards community programs, including arts and athletics. Saturday’s events will be designated for music alongside visual arts; hosted by the El Rey Theatre, guests will be treated to performances by The Polyamorous Affair, eskimohunter, and headliners The Deadly Syndrome. Click here for tickets.
  • Blitzen Trapper | Sunday, September 27 | 8:00 pm | $16 | The Independent, San Francisco, CA – Map | The Portland, Ore., folk rock band had us at “Sleepy Time in the Western World”. What is it about the good old days that make us feel better – when those “days” were filled with the same problems, just expressed in a different style – is beyond us. Blitzen Trapper will continue to perform for the better part of the year in respective venues across the nation. Click here for tickets.
