Jack Black to Appear in Brutal Legend Video Game!
Sep 28, 2009 - By craigsternberg
Comedy Star Jack Black is no stranger to cross pollinating the genres of comedy and heavy metal music. Whether it’s in his band Tenacious D, or his latest blockbuster movie. The most obvious example being 2006’s Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, where we discover Black’s love for heavy metal and his worship of former Black Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio.
Black is continuing this trend by appearing in the video game Brutal Legend a comedic fantasy homage to the genre.
Black will appear in the game as a roadie named Eddie Riggs, who works for heavy metal icons Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest singer RobĀ Halford and Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister. Brutal Legend is created by veteran game developer Tim Schafer who is also an avid heavy metal fan.
Brutal Legend isn’t created with a play along focus like most music games these days, instead it draws heavily on the imagery and lyrics of metal albums from plot to art direction, which will be featured on its soundtrack of over 100 songs. Schafer is the founder of Double Fine Productions where he built a cult following in the video game industry with releases like, The Secret of Monkey Island and Psychonauts.
