Noel Gallagher Might Join Kasabian On Tour

Now that Noel Gallagher has quit Oasis, clearly he has newly freed up time once occupied by playing “Champagne Supernova” every night and arguing with his brother, Liam.

So what’s a rock star to do?

Enter Kasabian. Lead singer Tom Meighan has said he would “love” the band to record a track with their friend Noel Gallagher, according to NME. Meighan said he hoped Gallagher and the band could find their way together into the studio together – eventually.

“We’d love to do a track with him. Never say never. But at the moment he’s concentrating on his solo stuff and we’re busy as ever,” Meighan told the News Of The World.

Meighan also revealed that he expects Gallagher to join Kasabian on their UK arena tour, which kicks off in Newcastle on November 10.

“We’ve got our arena tour in November. Noel will be calling us up nearer the time for sure saying ‘Lads, I’m going to come perform with you on tour’. He’s a performing machine, and loves playing live so he jumps at the opportunity whenever he can join us.”

Word is Gallagher is prepping for a solo album, which feels like the likeliest evolution for the talented musician post-Oasis, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Gallagher join up with a variety of artists and bands for one-off projects and live shows.

After 18 years steering Oasis to mammoth success worldwide it was a tad startling to read about Gallagher jumping ship. Not surprising, because he and his brother have gone at it over and over for so long, but still odd to read that Noel was actually leaving the band.

In a message on the band’s website, the guitarist and songwriter said:

“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

A Noel return to Oasis is probably not out of the question down the road, but for now it looks as though he’s happy to explore other musical endeavors. Kasabian is a pretty good start.
