Journey’s Arnel Pineda Rocks Out With Oprah
By Jeffrey Hyatt
There will always be a heavy contingent of Journey fans – and classic rock fans in general – who believe Journey is only Journey when lead singer Steve Perry is singing all those memorable hits. But the Arnel Pineda story is pretty damn good even if he doesn’t sing “Wheel in the Sky” quite as well as Perry. And hey, fans of Pineda would argue the opposite.
The whole inspirational Pineda story made it to Oprah Monday for a “Don’t stop believing”-themed show, which included a performance by Journey.
Check below to watch the Journey/Arnal Pineda segment on Oprah.
The get discovered by Journey guitarist Neil Schon from a YouTube clip after a difficult life growing up in the Philippines is awesome. Is this movie in development already? If not, it should be. Like Metal God, but a lot better.
But the only reason this story really works is because the guy sounds so much like Steve Perry. You cannot have a voice like Dave Matthews and get away with belting out “Don’t Stop Believin’.” So kudos to Pineda for honing some killer vocal chops, and to Schon for realizing not only can the guy sing, but that he sounds so much like Perry that fans won’t have much trouble adjusting.
But it works. It absolutely works. The guy who once had a cover band call the Zoo, making a living covering everyone from Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin to Air Supply and The Eagles, is living the dream.
And he’s on Oprah.
There are those who hold out hope for a Steve Perry-Journey reunion (okay, me), but for now Journey: The Pineda Years is doing big business on tour, grabbing new fans and holding on tightly to the longtime fans who are just happy to be hearing “Who’s Crying Now,” “Faithfully” and all the other big hits in concert again – no matter who the heck is singing!
Sure, you’re inspired by Pineda’s story, but do you like him as a lead singer for Journey?

Give me a break! This guy is a puppet. He's needs his own identity. Arnel is Arnel and Steve Perry is Steve Perry….the best voice EVER. None of us REALLY know just what happened between Journey and Steve and it's really none of our business. What we need to do is lone them both and wish them BOTH success with each of their projects. Enough is enough…..I'm getting so sick and tired people trying to decide which one is better than the other….they both are good. BUT and I do mean BUT….Arnel needs to seriously fade Steve Perry's songs out of his act. It's just the same old songs with a different singer…..get over it and do some new things. Journey will never be the same without Steve. So…move on and so some new things with the band and stop crying in your beer…….Steve's new solo album will be coming in out in a few months and it will KICK BUTT…I will be so happy so that he can make these sorry people that say he's over……shut up ! Just wish them both good luck and get on with it………

OMG. His voice gave me a goose bumps, and i was speechless for a moment and had to watch the video again. This is awesome.

Absolutely LOVE Arnel as front man for Journey. Of course he's got some vocal fatigue…you would too if you had to sing the same songs over and over and over again just to please certain die-hard Journey/Steve Perry lovers like above…cut the man some slack. He has got passion, soul, and the love for the music just oozing out of his pores! The power behind Arnel's voice is simply phenomenol and we could all learn a few things from his humble demeanor. Which, by the way, Steve Perry was sorely lacking. It's time to let Steve Perry be happy where he is…he made his choices. Arnel has brought new a new breath and freshness to Journey as is noted in the new music such as "Only The Young"…I wish him only the best…he deserves it!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 1:03AM
I love the new journey better. YOU ROCK!!!!!!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 1:05AM
LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT.
WE R SO PROUD OF U!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 1:14AM
I'm sure Steve Perry himself is flattered and amazed someone can sound so much like himself—
Immitation is the sincerest form of Flattery…Arnel Pineda has his own style and vocal abilities and
I wish him well– Faithful Journey Fan

I think Arnel has a great voice in HIS own way. But Steve Perry he is not. There are alot of singers/tribute bands out there that have practiced to try to sound like the originals. But ONLY the originals are original. There is only ONE Steve Perry and no one else will ever be able to follow his act. However, I am happy for Arnel, considering his heart wrenching story. It is truly great to see someone's dream come true. That is the stuff that dreams are made of and that dreams take wing on. So, Arnel was in the right place (or should I say the right website) at the right time. Still, I could not ever bring myself to go see Journey in concert now. Not without Steve Perry. It just couldn't ever be the same.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 1:40AM
1st, am most proud to be Arnel's fellow Asian, Filipino!
I believe there's so much more in store for the fans to see and listen to…when Arnel's given his own way and time…let's just wait & see!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 2:30AM
i hope you're not out of this world too…i mean really, is it still ok with you if sp would just whisper through dsb?..remember the very first "instrument" that will "caught up" with age is the voice.. just be happy sp is counting his royalty right now ..1 million..2 million..smiling and singing "who's crying now" on his way to the bank…while the sploons were crying..!?!?…such the irony of life..
and who's saying arnel is steve perry?..ARNEL IS ARNEL AND STEVE IS STEVE.. this journey now has improved the stock of perry..3 million..4 million…..don't get stuck ..sp has moved on and is about to release a cd soon..get over it..
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 2:43AM
don't read between the lines sir..read what is written..maybe you stopped reading about journey since steve left…on second thought don't talk, you don't even know the meaning of "karioke".
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 2:44AM
Apperantly you haven't hears Perry sing lately. Look around on youtube. B-sides…the last album JRNY did with Perry was a SNORE FEST. I LOVE Perry….but he just doesn't ROCK anymore or hit those notes. Arnel does both….so NO – they wouldn't be doing as well. It would SUCK.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 2:59AM
Love his voice!!!!! We saw Journey about 2 weeks ago in OKC and they sounded great!!! But they could have played a little more old songs.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 3:36AM
It's not so much that Steve perry is long time gone, you know– I mean, he will always be remembered as the one who HAD THAT voice and made it THE voice of Journey. coz the thing is, if these singers are just "generation' singers, then you just admit the fact that they are just ANY musicians out there who happen to make it in the music industry at a certain time ( and flopped tragically), and that they are not any good at all as to have their talent live long after our time. I think for Arnel pineda, it is really the simple and obvious fact that he can sing and interpret the songs SUPER well !!!! – that he can even sound like the original singer (s)! Did you hear him sing some bryan adam song too? Good grief he sounded just like him too! Man, I'm just happy that people are actuall discovering him – he's been around for a while now and it's about time that people notice him!!!!!!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:18AM
I'm happy for this guy. Give him a break, for Christ sake, besides he's got a decent voice. If he sells out concerts and cds, he must be doing something people like. Can't make everybody happy.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:42AM
I don't really care for Journey's songs — too oldie
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:44AM
learn how to spell karaoke you dumb $hit, you dont even know what karaoke is so you shouldn't talk.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:44AM
Arnel Pineda is one great guy!!! His talent is amazing. JOURNEY WITH ARNEL PINEDA ROCKS!!!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:48AM
who cares what you say your not a Journey fan your a steve perry fan anyways.
Go cry in your corner listening to your steve perry hoping one day he will return ….bwhahahaha yeah right
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:52AM
Sing new catalog? They have a new album called "REVELATION" and Arnel sang 9 new songs.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:59AM
I believe one of the new songs, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, went to #9 in Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart in 2008. WHERE DID I LOSE YOUR LOVE went to #19 on the same chart this year.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 5:03AM
I saw these guys in august 2008, believe me, as good as he sounds here, it is nothing like in person; this guy is just awesome. To top it off, he is a class act. Congrats Arnel.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 5:18AM
I became Journey fan since mid-80s when Steve Perry was the frontman.
As a Filipino, I dislike Filipino artists who just imitate their neo-colonial idols. Arnel Pineda's story and growth as a music artist was disrupted when he became SP's replacement. It was the time that his local band had just released an original album.
Aside from being a valuable "commodity", his stint and journey in Journey will be meaningful if what Angela's point,
"to grow as an artist by giving him the opportunity to sing a new catalog,"
is proven.
So, he's getting the luck now! I am looking forward to the time when AP will be able to contribute anything Filipino in Journey's music. Just like the guy in Black Eyed Peas. If the other Journeymen allow him so.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 5:35AM
journey with this kid is like Boston without Brad Delp,,give me a break
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 5:39AM
I'm happy for Journey as a band and I am definitely ecstatic for Arnel. He is the reason why the band is well and alive again. He is such a talented & passionate singer. And I'm so touched by his humbleness and even Schion said that Arnel made him a better person. Go Arnel, MABUHAY!!!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 5:51AM
pleaseeee… dont live in the past. Each one of us has are own time. SP had his fame and glory and it was awesome!!! Im saddened that he is not in the present time with journey and Arnel Pineda is.He too is great because he brought journey back and his voice is incredible. That's what matters, the music….. the Journey!!!!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 6:17AM
ITS A GOD GIVEN TALENT… WE ALL HAVE TALENTS OR TALENT AND LETS USE IT TO MAKE THIS A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE AND TO MAKE IT MORE LIKE A HEAVENLY WORLD TO LIVE. WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS, LET US LOOK WITHIN AND FIND SOLUTIONS AND LET US ALL USE OUR GOD GIVEN TALENT/S TO MAKE A BETTER PLACE, WORLD TO LIVE, LOOK AT ARNEL AND STEVE PERRY HOW AMAZING IT IS IF WE ARE UNSELFINSH OF WHAT WE HAVE.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 6:31AM
you should really look into arnel pineda's story before you question his integrity as a singer/songwriter…just so u know,he can!!!and by the way,it's karaoke not karioke…
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 6:48AM
A new journey is born
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 6:55AM
I don't care who the lead singer is, I grew up with Journey and I love Journey. But YES, I love their new singer.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 12:13AM
i agree with that..
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 12:19AM
you could not expect from him to sound that perfect at that time. if you are following some threads you'll realize that they came to oprah from a night gig then after taping for Oprah show, they rushed for another gig for the night. meaning, the guys did not have a good rest yet and probably did not sleep well because of travel, preparations etc.
even the equipments, they shipped two sets, one for oprah show and one for the concert site that night as well.
So, imagine the effect on the man's voice. but then, he still sounded great. that is professionalism, that is talent and that is also called passion.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 12:57AM
You're right. I'm 13 and many kids in my school listen to Journey. I watched them this year with my mom and dad and I loved the band and Arnel Pineda. He looks so young like us and jumps around the stage like us. And he has MAD VOICE. Journey is the band of our generation.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 1:05AM
I'm 13 years old and I love Journey with Arnel Pineda. My classmates and I listen to Revelation on break times. I saw them with my mom and dad this year. That Arnel dude has MAD VOICE. Middle Schoolers love Journey!!!!!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 2:54AM
Yeah, Arnel has brought back the magic of Journey_this according to Ross himself. And Arnel made a better person out of Jon. Deen is humbled by Arnel's humility, and Neal is looking after Arnel like his kid bro.
If the band is in sync with everyone else, I don't see any reason why Arnel can't continue the legacy sound that Journey has provided us After All This Years.
Besides, Arnel hinslef has said that SP is The Voice, no argument in that. Arnel is simply an honest to goodness down to earth person with no room for star complexion.
Long Live Journey!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 3:54AM
- "the other 2 sucked!! LIke another commento said, let Journey w/Pineda get a #1 hit NOW then we'll talk!!"
That's a shame, Steve Augeri and Jeff Scott Soto – the other two replacements before Pineda did great in their own right. But then again that was just your opinion and this is mine.
With or without #1 HIT – people are NOW talking about Journey with Pineda!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 4:18AM
The era of no.1 hit for a classic / melodic rock tunes has long been gone. No matter how good Pineda with Journey will be, that will be like shooting a moon with a bow.
If you have not gotten Journey's Revelation DVD last year..you missed out your point.. After All These Years went to Billboard at no.5 and stays there for some time, while Never Walk Away roams in the top 100.
That's a feat and all these are new songs with Arnel Pineda at the helm.
Let us be realistic here..70, 80 and 90 decades were a different era..
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 5:02AM
you are so stupid…..of course right now arnel is singing old classic of journey because of management decision, wait till the new album of journey which will come out next year and arnel will be very much involved on this new album…moron……arnel can right his own music listen to his own composition during his zoo band stay…. how about you??
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 6:25AM
.i'm soo impressed by arnel!.. . he's got talent!.. .. ^_^
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 2:07PM
Pineda NEEDS a haricut!!!!!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 2:58PM
obviously u dont have thier REVELATIONS album…why dont u grab u one..or maybe not!… u dont even know how to spell Karaoke dude!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 1:02PM
i think it’s time for the filipino artist to go global compete with the best.you rock arnel!!
Thursday, October 8, 2009 1:24AM
steve perry's legacy?…you mean his solo album right?. because those platinums belongs to journey the band, it's journy's legacy.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 1:36AM
yap you're right journey is not the same journey you knew because they are now even bigger and better…!..with new fan base and the whole world as their stage not just north america…
have you ever gone to a rock concert where the grandpas/grandmas, fathers/mothers,sons/daughters were rockin at the same time and having the time of their lives..??
Thursday, October 8, 2009 1:38AM
I totally agree with you Valerie!! I believe Journey is only making it because Arnel sounds a little like Steve Perry. What I don't understand is why Journey insist on having someone that sounds like Steve Perry….I mean they have every right to move on….but they know they don't stand a chance in hell without a SP sound alike….it makes me sick!!! Watching them on Oprah, to me was like someone singing karaoke along to Journey's songs…… how sad.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 2:13AM
Thank you!!! I totally ag.ree!!! Journey will never be Journey without Steve Perry and will never be
Thursday, October 8, 2009 2:16AM
You wish Med!!! Ugh, Steve Perry was and will always be remembered as the "Voice" and had the looks too!!! Arnel has nothing on SP.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 2:25AM
Narrow minded, I think not!! If Journey is Journey with or without Steve Perry then why did Neal Schon look all over to find a replacement that sounds just like Steve Perry!!! …that is what pisses all of us SP fans off, continue with the group by all means, but with your own sound not off the coat tails of Steve Perry!!!! An definately not with a SP wanna be.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 2:28AM
How is Arnel unique in his own way? Please tell me ppl, that I don't understand how a man that is on stage singing someone else's songs and sounding like him make him unique?….it's karaoke!!!!
Thursday, October 8, 2009 2:40AM
Yeah, you know what he's doing that ppl like? Ppl like the fact that he's come the closest to Steve Perry's voice and on top of that singing all those Journey classics that we all know and love….that is what he is doing
Thursday, October 8, 2009 3:17AM
I'm a journey's fan for a long time and am amazed with Steve Perry's voice over and over again, but after he left the band I'm kinda disappointed, coz i thought they would never be the same again. but somehow a powerful voice of Arnel Pineda's hailed froma cross the Pacific Ocean and gave a new life to Journey. They were being born again with Arnel's passion to music and his humble heart. God Speed Journey!!!
Thursday, October 8, 2009 4:30AM
who cares..!?!?..his hair is always shiny anyway and looked like freshly re-bonded..!!!!
Thursday, October 8, 2009 4:44AM
yah dude it's your preference..
the songs of the 80's have these feel good positive vibes lyrics sang with good old pure talent laced with passion emanating from the inner most sanctum of a rockin soul.
the music of today is filled with violence, hatred and offensive words sang by wannabes and over synthesized….full of truck load of crap really…..LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL…LONG LIVE THE MULLET…!!!!!!..LOL..
Thursday, October 8, 2009 6:14AM
Filipinos had already contributed talents to the world. That was proven when a Chinese film producer, Run Run Shaw, hired Filipino crews to make films and to train Chinese filmmakers in the 1950s.
In the same period, Barbara Perez, actress-wife of Robert Arevalo, was recruited by a Hollywood filmmaker who was convinced by the Pinay's inherent talent. But, she declined. So proud of being Pinay.
And there are other Pinoys who shined in the world class screen and stage before Arnel.
The questions now, are: what (basic) Filipino cultural identity, characteristics should AP can contribute to his band. Or what should a Filipino artist, reflective of his culture, can show in his art before a world audience?
Will his co-Journeymen allow him to create and shine as a Filipino who contributes to an American pop-rock kind of music and evolve to another kind of something "original?" Or he just exist as somebody who fills an original's bigger shoes, and be categorized as a nice REPLACEMENT which is a very profitable product ingredient and marketing tool?
Of course he is wealthy now…
Thursday, October 8, 2009 3:11AM
His talent is a given. Obviously, the old boys of Journey and the younger Deen love him for his attitude and personality – a big plus for a band.
I like him. I’m thankful I still have something from the 80′s to share with the kids.
As for Steve Perry, let’s just respect his decision to quit Journey and eventually retire from the music industry. He will always be remembered.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 1:26PM
New solo album… Where???? This has been rumored even since, Arnel wasn't with Journey yet. Well, I guess "Don't Stop Believing," for Steve Perry fans (I say Steve Perry fans, okay and not Journey fans)….. And by the way, those are Journey songs not Steve Perry songs only, okay… Is he still the lead today? NO! So quit whining about Steve Perry here and Steve Perry that. And let us enjoy and make new memories with our generation's Journey sound… Question: Why wasn't Steve Perry's solo work before, as successful as when he was with Journey? Answer: Because Journey isn't just about one person – it's their music, it's a whole band…. And Journey lives on….
Thursday, October 8, 2009 1:47PM
Yes, sing a new catalog. The band has been promoting Arnel, to his great disservice, on the strengths of the legacy catalog. Super Bowl, Ellen, and on Oprah they perfomed SP Journey tunes. The second disc of their new album is retread of classic Journey songs. 'Revelation" reveals that this band has little interest in moving forward rather they seek to recaputure a glorius past.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 5:08PM
You can only compare when the guys are active neither you like or dislike. If you're comparing the past, its history. Just rejoice you have the Journey band enterning where +/-80% agree! negative commentators are loosers…
Thursday, October 8, 2009 6:25PM
On the other hand, Journey the band reclaimed its glory through a REPLACEMENT w/ the same straight hair, but belts out an SP-Journey original pieces w/ a pitch bend timbre.
Hey man, it's the Doña Victorina syndrome from the Great Malay's 19th century novel. And the old Journeymen love AP's-the Pinoy's "walking through the wire" and "eating the fire" antics by means of a cut notch's consistent return of the tickets.
That was how Ferdinand Magellan co-opted Rajah Humabon, the Americans co-opted Manuel Quezon.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 7:18PM
Journey wasn't memorable before Steve Perry and not much more after Steve Perry. Why do you think they are attempting to return to their 'legacy sound" i.e the sound created by Steve Perry? So yes, I, like the band members themselves, refer to the Journey's legacy as Steve Perry and Journey. Let's stop kidding ourselves here. Journey has morphed into a cover band –of themselves…spooky!
I rather hope Arnel does a brief stint with the band and then moves onto greener pastures with another band or as a solo artist. Perhaps he would have a better chance at getting more original material out there.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 7:37PM
Management decision my arse….it was a band decision, sunshine! Neal et al know that there is very little interest and $$$ in promoting a NEW Journey. So they will perform their classics and perhaps a few new ditties just to appear relevant. That shipped sailed when Perry left.
Thursday, October 8, 2009 7:48PM
Arnel seems like a nice guy but really he has no choice but to be humble. He was plucked from relative obscurity to cover the materal made famous by an unforgettable singer. Do you really expect him to strut around flexing his muscles.
Friday, October 9, 2009 2:20AM
We're happy with what Journey is giving us now with Arnel. If you're not, then that is your decision. Stop being bitter. Better go to Steve Perry's site and pray that he comes up with a new album. Just don't hold your breath for that.
Friday, October 9, 2009 3:54AM
it's not steve perry's sound alone..it is journey's sound and they have all the right, left, center, whatever to preserved their sound…why? did sp do it a cappella style??..you give credit only to sp?? what about the other band members?..their just props..?….sp this, sp that…geez..let sp do an a cappella in his forthcoming album…!!!!..and no matter how it would sound it would be a true sp sound..!
Friday, October 9, 2009 4:33AM
Neal Schon is Journey. Without him Steve Perry would still be in a turkey farm.
Friday, October 9, 2009 4:35AM
Steve Perry WAS the voice and so was Steve Augeri
Friday, October 9, 2009 4:39AM
The important thing is they have a new catalog and will be coming out with a new one this 2010. As long as they keep on touring and creating new songs, I don't care what they sing on TV. Let the music continue.
Friday, October 9, 2009 4:43AM
Journey is Neal's baby. He was the founder of the band. He can do whatever he wants.
Friday, October 9, 2009 4:49AM
Glad that you appreciate the music of the 80's!
Saturday, October 10, 2009 2:42AM
I luv Journey eversince with steve perry but just like everyone is saying when arnel pineda joined the band and hearing him sing the old and the new songs…WOW this man can sing. This is the greatest gift to Journey from the god above. I couldn't believe it. He's damn goooooood! god bless and long live Journey and the Journey fans!!!! We hope to see Journey/Arnel at Staples Center! lrvb
Saturday, October 10, 2009 3:37PM
I am not American but I'm quite familiar with some of the Journey songs from the 80's. But now, with a new lead singer who has a very powerful voice, I became more interested in this band. I guess i am now a FAN!!
Saturday, October 10, 2009 5:57PM
Then why are you here in the first place LOL!!!
Saturday, October 10, 2009 6:16PM
Abet, I 'm a Filipino like you and love Philippines much deeper than what you can take. But what we are talking here is TALENT and how this gift transcends borders. He will have his own time, that is for sure. As for now, I believe his talent and understanding of the business has improved a lot when he joined Journey and that is what excites me. If he got his foothold to say something, then he got a big stick. Peace to you.
Sunday, October 11, 2009 3:56AM
i feel sorry for you.
Sunday, October 11, 2009 4:11AM
Most of Journey's songs were written by Cain, Schon and Perry. Perry is only 1/3 of that and the 2/3 (Cain and Schon) are still with the band. To say that Arnel needs to stop singing these songs are stupid since it is Journey's song. If Arnel starts singing Oh Sherrie then I will be the first one to ask him to stop.
Monday, October 12, 2009 11:09PM
arnil pineda rock on your the best
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 3:57AM
What the F*ck are you talking about?
Oh im sure you "dislike Filipino artists who just imitate their neo-colonial idols" and since you filipino I also bet you have yourself a magic mic or Karaoke system and sing American songs, how ironic and don't contradict yourself idiot.
Of course the band is just doing what they need to do first, they need the publicity, they need to reassure the fans that he can carry the Journey catalog the way it's supposed to be sung.
You can't just jump in and give the fans something new and a new frontman, the band will get crucified.
They are doing this very slowly with the tours and tv show performances and yes it's been 2yrs now and they are slowly regaining back their hardcore fans and new fans.
And no he does not need to contribute anything FILIPINO, him being filipino is already giving the pinoys all the pride. He already is contributing to the INTERNATIONAL audiences.
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 3:59AM
shut the f*ck up.
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 4:09AM
Boo hoo you are a dumbass, looks like you can't take it when Journey without Steve Perry is having success. All replacements helped keep Journey afloat. Next time spell Karaoke correctly and also check again for saying Steve mostly wrote and helped write everything, all band members helped produce the music.
What makes you more of an idiot and a dumbass here's the definition of Karaoke:
Karaoke definition
ka·ra·oke (kar′ē ō′kē, ker′-)
noun
a form of entertainment in which patrons, as in a bar or home, take turns singing popular songs into a microphone accompanied by prerecorded music played on a special device, with the lyrics displayed on a screen.
All i saw was a great band performing live.
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 4:11AM
word! Old fogies can't get pass the fact steve perry is gone.
Friday, October 16, 2009 5:52PM
It's the image that he represents. He wouldn't look like a rocker if he cut his hair too short. Arnel mentioned once that he wished that he could cut his hair short but I think he has to have approve of whether to cut it short or have longer hair.
Saturday, October 24, 2009 8:02AM
Who cares? he got the hair and talent,he’s rich now! F u have a talent put in You Tube, they’re looking 4 the next MICHAEL JACKSON ,maybe u will get the spot.!!! If u like the journey, just listen to there heavenly sound of music or hug your love ones with open arms.. AP u rock dude…!!!

World of Music…. People cannot live without music and even the trees and the animals love music… Arnel Pineda is a great singer, he can rock and make millions of people around the world SMILE (THINK ABOUT THAT)! Now, we talk about Steve Perry (he dismantled himself from Journey), his time gone away from Journey, he WAS a singer of Journey, and we couldn't go back from the PAST, people in all aspect of life need to move on and that is WHAT THE REST OF JOURNEY DID! Without Steve Perry, they moved on, they went out there looking for new singer, and now they found another good one, great singer and with a humble story. PERIOD! There can't be another Shakespeare int eh world, coz he's long time dead, but maybe there is like "Shakespeare" out there right now, and he happens to be "Dela Cruz or Quentin" or whatever last name he had, and we need to admit that…

My family and I love the Journey w/ Steve Perry and the lead singers that they've had previously. Everyone has their own talent and passion and their time to shine! This time it is Journey's w/ Arnel Pineda as the lead singer. GOD BLESS everyone who loves and enjoys music and are positive regarding CHANGE because the only constant thing that is happening in our lives is change!!!

doesn't matter who's fronting journey…what matters is that it's even getting better…bigger…edgier…fresher…and rockier…and the journey legacy lives on…rock on Journey !!!

Never was into Journey with Perry. Too nasal and too girlish. You can't rock when you do a Mariah Carey by extending syllables when singing. Saw Journey with Pineda at Grasopop 2009 and I took notice. That man has got pipes and did Journey soar and rock! If I were Journey i would concentrate on acquiring new metal fans who are more open to their new sound and please don't ever ever play LOVIN , TOUCHIN, SQUEEZIN again!.

I have been a diehard journey fan since they were an instrumental band without vocals.Steve Perry was a great addition to them because the music deserved to have lyrics. Steve perry and his voice seduced me from the first song he sang.I followed journey as my number 1 band for 20 years. As far as replacing Steve with Arnel well let me tell you journey couldnt of got in any more perfect unless he was sent from heaven. He can seduce me anytime and everytime he sings.I just watched them on Palladia and when Arnel sang Faithfully I have to say that never have I heard such a powerful ballad in my 50 years. He does do it better than Steve.Keep comin" and take me on my next journey.(WON"T YOU PLEASE JOURNEY)!!!!

Valerie, SP is now 62 years old, and couldn't hold a candle to Arnel's voice! So, you can imagine all you want, dream on!
