Jay Reatard’s Band Quits

Jay Reatards Band Quits Jay Reatards Band Quits

It’s funny when things are completely ironic. You don’t know whether to laugh or cry when irony slaps you in the face, and that’s how undecided we feel about Jay Reatard right now.

We like the garage punk musician. Blood Visions album became a favorite listen for 2006, and Watch Me Fall is starting to grow on us… but perhaps after being a part of seven bands, a solo career has gone to his head?

Early this morning, we found out via Twitter and Reatard’s frustrated cussing, that his touring band had quit:

“Band quit! Fuck them! They are boring rich kids who can’t play for ahit anyways … Say hello to your ugly and boring wifes opps I mean lifes guys suck it.”

Way to go, buddy. You couldn’t have named your album with a better title. Also, maybe you shouldn’t take a whiz on your guitarist.

Pitchfork has even gotten confirmation on the departures of bassist, Stephen Pope, and drummer, Billy Hayes. However, he must be looking for new band members as well because no upcoming tour dates have been canceled.

Will he be able to recruit replacing members after that “awesome punk” Twitter declaration?
