Pavement To Headline and Curate ATP 2010
By Seraphina L.
We get a Pavement reunion in New York for 2010 but the UK has gotten them to curate the prestigious All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival the same year! Although, they said they wouldn’t be doing any “silly” like festivals, headlining and curating ATP in the country where it originated is a pretty big deal.
ATP is known as the festival of festivals in Britain for starting something alternative against the corporate guys like Glastonbury and Reading. They’ve also been very involved with the States’ indie scene by booking stages for Pitchfork and Primavera Sound, and eventually launching an ATP festival here as well.
Since Pavement was chosen to headline and curate, this means that they will basically get to make their own mixtape out of the festival by handpicking the lineup themselves. It all happens on May 14 – 16 in Minehead, England. See more info after the jump!
Tickets are currently going for £160pp for room only and £170pp for self catering and go on sale this Friday, October 9th, over at the ATP website. As expected for any other festival, they have Early Bird special:
“Full price tickets go on general sale at 9:00am on Friday October 9th. With the general sale we will also be offering a small amount of early bird tickets at a £10 discount, (early bird tickets £150pp room only and £160pp self catering). These will be available until the following Friday October 16th (unless they run out first). You will be able to purchase full price tickets at any time from October 9th.”
They also join the club as they will also be offering Installment Tickets, which you can read about here.
So far, Pavement is the only one on the roster. It looks like they’ve got quite a task in front of them since this ATP weekend will be “PAVEMENT WEEKEND.” It also sounds like a lot of pressure since ATP glorified them even more than we did:
“Pavement’s catalogue for the Matador, Domino, Drag City and Treble Kicker imprints has come to define in the eyes of many, the blueprint for independent rock over the past generation and we are thrilled to have them join our illustrious list of curators.”
This happens in May 2010 and the NYC dates don’t happen until September, so we’ve got a feeling they’ll do some other dates for the Brits and Europeans, too. Why does everything always happen first for them?
On a side note, ATP has also teased us with another mystery: A second ATP festival weekend featuring a different curator on May 7-9, 2010 and we’ll have to wait until next week for the announcement.
Will you be buying tickets to Pavement Weekend at ATP?
