John Lennon’s Birthday Art Exhibition
John Lennon turns 69-years-old today. Not literally of course, but in our hearts Lennon still lives on through the music and artistry that he created during his legendary career. According to Barista Net, to celebrate the life of this wonderful man, Montclair is hosting an exhibition of Lennon’s artwork called “We All Shine On,” over the next three weeks. The exhibition will be co-sponsored by Montclair’s BID and Yoko Ono’s Legacy Fine Arts and Production.
In the “We All Shine On” collection, there are a number of framed and unframed limited edition lithographs, serigraphs and copper etchings reproduced from Lennon’s original drawings. (To read more about what’s on display visit baristanet.com).
Before Beatlemania, Lennon was an art student at the Liverpool College of Art. Like his persona, his drawings were very controversial. His first exhibitions in London were shut down due to the erotica-feel of his line drawings in pen, pencil and Japanese ink that critics deemed as pornographic. But, don’t worry, these same erotic drawings will be on display in Montclair.
If you’re lucky enough to be in New Jersey, you should swing by and see Lennon’s art. Check out details below:
Admission is free, but a donation of $2 at the door is suggested. 100% of the donations will go to Montclair Salvation Army.
The exhibit will be held at former WaMu Bank, 460 Bloomfield Avenue, on the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and South Fullerton Avenue.
