Method Man Arrested for Tax Evasion

Just when I finished typing that Soulja Boy had been arrested for obstruction, NME reports that rapper Method Man was arrested and charged with tax evasion in New York.! The rapper turned himself in on Monday after an arrest warrant was issued to him for failing to pay almost $33,000 in personal income taxes — but that isn’t the worst part. If found guilty of tax evasion, Method Man could spend the next four years behind bars.

There is no set date in court for Method Man yet, but Daniel Donovan, the Staten Island District Attorney, said the rapper will not receive special treatment. Here is what he had to say about the charges:

“Taxes are a burden that all citizens share in a civil society, whether you’re an average Joe on the street or a high-profile rap artist. Because of the alleged action of people like Mr Smith, law abiding citizens face higher taxes and reduced government services.”

This isn’t the first time Method Man has been arrested, in 2007, the rapper was once again held in New York City on marijuana charges. Like I said before, this won’t have a negative effect on the rappers’ career because he maintained his success even after his first arrest. Donovan said that there won’t be any special treatment, but when it comes to the stars that’s almost always impossible. We’ll have to wait and see how this case goes.
